CHOUKOUN
CHOUKOUN
FAVACA has teamed up with Choukoun to provide assistance with respect to donations, volunteers, technical advice, and infrastructure. FAVACA, a 501(c)(3) organization, makes it possible for donors to make tax-deductible contributions to Choukoun. All donations intended for Choukoun are made through FAVACA. US citizens making donations to FAVACA-Choukoun can claim the donation as a charitable contribution.
Choukoun helps to combat poverty and reduce joblessness by providing credit and advice to local borrowers to start businesses or grow existing businesses.
Our borrowers represent a cross-section of the community from teachers to farmers.
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere but has a spirit of independence and resilience that is inspirational. The January 2010 earthquake has created even greater need.
Choukoun is part of a world-wide effort to provide loans to people who do not otherwise have access to credit.
Your donation is used many times over. When you make a donation, it is used to make a loan. As it is repaid by each borrower, it is used again and again to make new loans.
Haiti, just a short distance from the United States, is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. 80% live under the poverty line and 54% live in abject poverty. The unemployment rate is 80%. The minimum wage is less than US $5.00 per day. Choukoun provides opportunity to make a difference in the people and the communities in which they live and work.
WELCOME TO CHOUKOUN!
